Kindergarten paper animals

Kindergarteners are creating paper animals!  I really enjoy this project — just look at those faces!  We folded a rectangle of oak tag in half to form the body.  To make legs, we folded two long strips of oaktag in half and glued them to the body.  Each end of the folded oaktag made a leg, so all our animals have four legs.  We colored our animals with crayon and thought about what its coat would look like.  Some students needed to add spots and stripes, and some added lines to give their animal’s coat a rough texture.  We drew and cut out the tails and heads and glued them on.  Next week we will build an environment for each animal to inhabit!
