The Coffin School art room

Welcome to the Coffin & Gerry Art Blog!  I’m Mary Herchenhahn, otherwise known as Ms. H.  I hold a BFA in illustration from RISD, as well as an MFA from BU in studio education. I have been teaching at Coffin and Gerry since 2007.

The purpose of this blog is to showcase student work, keep families informed of upcoming events, and make art information accessible from one location.  You can email me at herchenhahn.mary@marbleheadschools.org.

All students have art once a week for 45 minutes.  Kindergarten and first grade students at Gerry take home their artwork several times a year.  I will send home a notice asking for Gerry students to bring in a bag so we can roll up our work and bring it home safely.  Students at Coffin leave most of their artwork at the school until May.  This allows me to pull out different projects throughout the year for the Festival of Arts, the National Grand Bank exhibit, the Admin Building exhibit, and other community showcases.  Exceptions include seasonal work, such as haunted house drawings, and 3-D work, such as papier-mache and ceramics — those will be sent home upon completion.
